Jeanne Francis Houghton Lampman, 92, died May 1, 2011 at Westminster-Canterbury in Lynchburg, following a long illness. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 17th, 1919, daughter of Earl and Hazel Brown Houghton of Coldwater, Michigan. Her mother was a noted artist and teacher of painting.
Jeanne Houghton Graduated from Michigan State University in 1940 with a B.S.Degree in Home economics. Following graduation, she worked at a hospital in Lansing, Michigan for five years, then worked at Doste- Ferguson hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she supervised meals in four categories, Public Dining, Staff Dining, Patient Meals, and Special Diets.
In 1947, she married Elmer Steinbauer, but he died in an automobile accident less than a year later. She was then working as a consultant for Consumers Power, in Monroe, Michigan, when she married James Russell Lampman, a former college sweetheart, in 1948.
For many years, Mrs. Lampman worked outside the home, doing demonstration cooking, including for Miller and Rhodes of Lynchburg, she also demonstrated cake decorating and egg decorating.
Mrs. Lampman is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Lampman, of Westminster-Canterbury , Lynchburg, Va. She is also suvived by a son Lawrence Earl Lampman, and his wife, Mary of Chattenooga, Tn. and son Richard Alan Lampman, and his wife, Kathy von Dolen, of Richmond, Va.
