Jeanne Marie Clubb, 89, of Lynchburg, Va., died Saturday, April 15, 2017. She was the loving wife of the late William Anthony Clubb for 55 years.
Jeanne was born Wednesday, December 28, 1927 in Syracuse, N.Y., a daughter of the late Jerry Vollmer and Bessie Vollmer. Jeanne was a warm and kind woman who dedicated much of her time to her family. Jeanne was avid about caring for and helping others, and spent much of her time volunteering with Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg Nursing Center, Mended Hearts, and Cavalry Baptist Church, of which she was a member. She also greatly enjoyed baking, particularly cakes, which she decorated exquisitely. Jeanne was a talented seamstress and created beautiful table runners and cloth children’s books which she sold at craft fairs.
Jeanne is survived by her two children, Mike Clubb (Inez Costa-Clubb) and Pat Jackson (Jack); four grandchildren, Michelle Lancaster (Mike Pomfret), Tony Jackson, TC Clubb, April McAllister (Steve); three great grandchildren, Penelope McAllister, Oscar McAllister, and Max Pomfret.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A celebration of Jeanne’s life will follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Lynchburg with Rev. Mark W. Beck officiating. Interment will follow the service at 2 p.m. in Amelia State Veterans Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church, Rosemary and George Dawson Inn (a homelike lodging to patients and their families who are receiving medical treatment in Lynchburg), Lynchburg General Hospital Volunteer Program, or Mended Hearts.
