Jennie Creasy Austin Flint

Jennie Creasy Austin Flint, 99, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013. Born January 22, 1914 in Bedford County; she was a daughter of the late Hubbard T. Creasy and Glennie Wilson Creasy.

Jennie was a member of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church for over 55 years. She was a retired seamstress from Wil-Ko Uniform Company with over 25 years of service. Jennie sewed for many clients and for many years could be seen selling her crafts at the area craft shows.

In addition to her parents, Jennie was preceded in death by her husbands, David E. Austin and James C. Flint; a son, Fredrick E. Austin; a infant daughter, Juanita Mae Austin;

sisters, Bertha Fulton, Stella Lawson, Dora Newman; and a brother, Harry Creasy. She is survived by daughters, Barbara A. Turner, Glennie A. Erb (Gene); grandchildren, Kathy Abbott (David), Donna Proffitt (Mark Daniel), Dennis Austin (Sherry), Sonya Lipscomb (Jimmy), Kevin Austin (Michaela), and Kasey Ferguson (Daniel); thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Hilda Ashwell (Herbert), and Frances McAllister (Carl).

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 2nd floor staff of Medical Care Center, especially Daisy, Jessica, Linda, and Norma for their care provided over the recent days.

In lieu of flowers, Jennie wished for memorial contributions be made to Lynchburg Life Saving Crew, 2007 Memorial Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24501. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM, Thursday, September 26, 2013 in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA, with Rev. Wayne Lanham officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 25, 2013 from 7 to 8:30 PM at Tharp Funeral Home.
