Jeri Lynn Long Gormus, 52, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at her residence. She was born in Front Royal, VA on August 3, 1966. She is a daughter of Jerry M. Long and Nancy Purdy Long.
Jeri Lynn was a member of Thaxton Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She worked as a Ground Water Treatment Technologist with Dominion Power. Jeri Lynn never met a stranger. She was known for her cooking especially her baking of pies, cakes and candies. She was a very creative soul. She loved crafts, playing the piano and spending time with her family especially her granddaughters. She also drove a school bus, managed a cafeteria and taught kindergarten during her career. She was loved dearly and will be missed by all that knew her.
In addition to Jeri Lynn’s parents she is survived by her husband, William L. Gormus, Jr.; three children, Kristen Mayberry, Tristen Mayberry and Thomas J. Gormus; two granddaughters, Nevaeh Cruz and Nyla Mayberry; two siblings, Tina L. Wooten and her husband, Tony and Gary Long and his wife, Melissa; two aunts, Millie L Groenke and her husband, Dennis and Jean Stoots; one uncle, Charles Edward Long and his wife, Janice; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and so many friends.

A memorial service and celebration of Jeri Lynn’s life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Thaxton Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Giganti and Pastor Mark Grooms officiating.
