Jerry Edward Brown

Jerry Edward Brown, 65, of Bedford, died unexpectedly Saturday, January 21, 2012 in Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born August 9, 1946 in Bedford, VA, a son of the late Hazel Ellis Brown and Henry Edward Brown. Jerry was the owner/operator of Brown\Ӫs Construction of VA, Inc. He was also a founder and current president of the Southern Building Systems, Inc. He was a member of the Virginia National Guard where he held the rank of master sergeant. He was a long-standing and very active member of the Bedford Breakfast Lions Club and of the Bedford Elks Lodge #2844. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Hancock Brown. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Brown McCaskill and her husband, Andrew McCaskill of Thailand; a brother, Larry Brown and his fianc̩e, Jennifer Moore of Bedford; three grandchildren, Josiah Edward McCaskill, Moriah Marcelle McCaskill and Elijah Andrew McCaskill all of Thailand; and his fianc̩e, Rhonda Prah and her two sons, Brian Davis and Kyle Prah, all of Bedford. A celebration of Jerry\Ӫs life will be conducted at 1 PM, Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Tharp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Vernon DeLong officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
