Jerry Ellis Austin, 63, of Goode, died Tuesday, November 17, 2015, in a tractor trailer accident in Pennsylvania. Born August 27, 1952 in Lynchburg, a son of the late Cecil and Estelle Hill Austin. Jerry is also preceded in death by a brother, Glen Austin.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Carolyn Pearson Austin, three children, eight grandchildren and three brothers. Karen Austin Trent (Eddie) of Lynchburg, Candon Trent (Ryan) of Newport Beach, California, Bobby Trent (Kara), of Lynchburg; grandchildren: Austin, Cassie, Jamie Low, Emma and Lillie-Ann Trent, Jaden, Carter and Cameron Trent; brothers: Buster Austin (Joanne) of Lynchburg, Tommie Austin (Carolyn) of Chesterfield, Donald Austin (Barbara) of Concord and his furry friend, Cocoa.
Jerry’s passion throughout his life was flying and he was a corporate pilot in Lynchburg until 2008. Nothing made him happier than being in the sky. He was currently employed by Harris Trucking Company. He was a loving husband, father, brother, Papa, and was a wonderful friend to many and never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg. A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday November 22, 2015 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home.
