Jerry Lee Johnson, 60 of Amherst, died on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at home in Amherst. He was the husband of Doreen Wendland Johnson for 33 years.
Born Saturday, June 27, 1953 in Wilmington, Delaware, Jerry was the son of the late Ronald Johnson and the late Thelma Dill Johnson.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by brother, Walter Johnson.
In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by his son, Jerry Lee Johnson, II of Amherst, who was his pride and joy, a brother, Johnny Johnson, three sisters: Ronnie Teagle, Linda Leyanna, and Janie Johnson; and an uncle, Fred Dill, and the Wendland family, who loved him as their own.
Jerry proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Army. It was while he and Doreen were both stationed in Germany that they met and were married. Jerry loved his family very much and loved to surprise them with tokens of his love. Jerry was a hard worker, who loved to work with his hands, to fix things that were broken. In his spare time he and his son enjoyed target shooting. He will be remembered as a person who always kept his word. When he made a promise, he always followed through with that promise.
Please no flowers, food, or money, your thoughts and prayers are welcome.
