Jerry Lowell Peverall, 66, of Bedford, died Thursday, January 31, 2013, in Bedford. Born December 13, 1946, in Bedford, he is a son of Leonard Willie Peverall, of Bedford, and the late Hazel Marie Daniels Peverall. A sister, Sandra Gail Hurt, also preceded him in death.
Jerry attended Fredrick College, Roanoke College, Auburn University and Lynchburg College, where he received many degrees, including 5 bachelors and two master\"™s degrees in education, psychology, industrial arts and studio art.
Following graduation he served in the Peace Corps for 2 years in India, and joined Americorps Vista program for 2 years upon his return. Later in his life, he also served another 2 years in the Peace Corps in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia where he served as a professor of English.
He was an avid photographer, an artist in many mediums, loved traveling and learning, and a was a devoted father and son.
He was a woodshop teacher and counselor with the Central Office Lower Yukon School District in Mountain Village, Alaska, for 16 years.
In addition to his father, Jerry is survived by his daughter, Jessica Borisch and her husband, Tom, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; three grandsons, Thomas, Jackson, and Gabriel; and a granddaughter, Katherine, all of Grand Rapids.
