Jerry Wayne Surface

Jerry Wayne Surface, 76, of Bedford, Va. died on Friday, August 31, 2018, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the loving husband of June Catherine Surface. In addition to his wife, he is survived by nine children, 18 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Jerry was born in Floyd, Va. a son of Frederick and Ida Surface. Jerry proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. He was a jack of all trades and after the Army, he worked in construction for his family’s business. Though Jerry had a “tough” exterior, anyone who knew him could tell you he was a loving man. Children and animals especially loved him. He was always true to himself, open-minded towards others, and never met a stranger.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by a son, Justin Wade Comer; a grandchild, Willow Fae; and his brothers.

A potluck celebration in memory of Jerry’s life will be held Monday, September 3, 2018 at 5 p.m. at 1123 Comer Lane, Bedford, Va. 24523. The family requests that you bring a chair or blanket to the celebration.
