Jesse E. Vanaman, Jr., 84, of Lynchburg died Sunday, June 4, 2017. He was the devoted husband of Margaret “Peggy” L. Vanaman.
Jesse was born January 30, 1933 in Lynchburg a son of the late Jesse E. Vanaman, Sr. and Marcella Thomas Vanaman. Jesse honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was retired as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. Jesse loved the outdoors, which included hunting, fishing, and working in his garden.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children: David M. Vanaman (Carolyn), Dianne V. Hodges (Tom), Steve L. Vanaman (Kelly), Ashley N. Khurana (Raj) all of Lynchburg, Beth L. Padgett (Michael Gordon) of Corpus Christi, TX, and Devin Padgett (Nicole) of Basalt, CO, and twelve grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and one sister Frances Hackett of Madison Heights.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.
A Celebration of Jesse’s Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg. Military Honors to be provided by American Legion Post #16.
