Jesse Edward Nubie, Sr.

November 1, 1942 — November 27, 2024

Jesse Edward Nubie, Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on November 1, 1942, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Jesse was the beloved son of the late Nina Nubie and Jerry Thomas.

Jesse's life was a testament to dedication, hard work, and love for family and community. He graduated from Dunbar High School and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam. Upon returning home, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to an apprenticeship and eventual employment at McCain's Radio and TV Service. This experience inspired Jesse to start his own business, Ed's TV Service, where he provided trusted service and built meaningful connections within his community.

In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Jesse embarked on a remarkable career at BWXT, where he devoted over two decades of service and built a vast network of friends and colleagues.

Faith was a cornerstone of Jesse's life, and he was an integral member of Cross Road Baptist Church. He served his church with unwavering dedication, using his skills as a Sound Room Technician and his leadership as a Trustee. His commitment to his faith and church family was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Jesse was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara Clark Nubie. Together, they built a life centered on love, partnership, and faith, leaving a legacy that will forever be cherished by their family.

Jesse’s greatest joy came from the love he shared with his family. He leaves behind two sons, Jesse Nubie Jr. (Jennifer) of Austin, Texas, and Christopher Nubie (Tonya) of Lynchburg, Virginia. He will be lovingly remembered by his granddaughter, Juliet Nubie of Austin, Texas, and step grandchildren Tre’Zhon Reid and Talib Reid of Lychburg, Virginia. Jesse is also survived by his sister-in-law, Vannasa White (Charles), and brother-in-law, Garland Clark (Shirley), both of Lynchburg, Virginia. Cousin in law Mary Fleshman of Rustburg Virginia. His memory will be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom were touched by his kindness, warmth, and generosity.

Jesse will be remembered for his infectious smile, joyful laughter, and the boundless love he shared with everyone fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of kindness, faith, and dedication to family and community will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who were blessed to be a part of his remarkable journey.

As we celebrate the life of Jesse Edward Nubie Sr., let us honor his memory by carrying forward the values he embodied and cherishing the precious moments we shared. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Barbara, in the presence of the Lord.
