Jessica Patricia McCaslin

Jessica Patricia Pritt McCaslin (née Hardy), age 93, of Charleston, WV, passed away on March 26, 2024, in Farmville, VA. 

Pat was born on January 6, 1931, to Gerald "Dick" Hardy and Goldie Dixon in Charleston, West Virginia, although she was reared by her grandparents, John and Dora Bell Dixon, in Diamond, West Virginia. Pat exuded joie de vivre and walked in beauty from the day she was born. She was a multi-talented individual who excelled at gardening as well as writing, poetry, and music. Pat married Harold Pritt in 1946 and bore five beautiful children. Pat was a kind mother who instilled in her children a deep love for Jesus. She also encouraged each of her children to explore their individual creative interests. Pat lived in multiple locations throughout her life and continued to use her creative talents to benefit humanity. She was quite active in her churches in Rockford, IL, and Nashville, TN. She also was a freelance journalist whose works were published in multiple publications.  Pat divorced Harold, after 18 years of marriage and later married Elmer McCaslin and they lived together until he passed in 1999. 

Pat was preceded in death by both Elmer and Harold, her brother, Johnny Hardy, and her grandson Christopher Dent. She is survived by her children, Cindy Henderson, Susan Dent, Lynn Spencer, Hope Rieffer, and Nathan Pritt, as well as her 9 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. 

A Private Memorial service will be held at Fishersville Baptist Church in Fishersville, VA, on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 1pm.
