Jewell Ramsey Burford, 92, of Lynchburg died Friday February 12, 2016. She was the wife of the late Landon Raymond Burford.
Jewell was born April 26, 1923 in Bedford County a daughter of the late John W. Ramsey, Jr. and Tiny Watson Ramsey. Jewell was a loving and dedicated homemaker to her family and was a member of Memorial Christian Church in Lynchburg.
She is survived by her daughter Diane B. Bird and husband Eric of Evington, her son Michael R. Burford of Forest, one sister Lillie Ledbetter of Mechanicsville, and three grandchildren: Lauren Bird Barkan, Justin Burford, and Danielle Burford, and their mother Tanya Burford.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday February 20, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.
A Celebration of Jewell’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday February 20, 2016 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg with the Rev. Virgil Knipp and Rev. Sue Knipp officiating.
