Jo Anne Bass

June 15, 1953 — August 23, 2014

On Saturday, August 23, 2014 we as a community of family and friends lost our beloved Jo Anne Roberts Bass. She passed away comfortably in her home with her husband G.W. Bass beside her, a home in which she greatly loved, along with the views.

Jo Anne was born and raised in Amherst County by her parents Virginia Harris Roberts and Everett Roberts, which she has once again reunited with. She has left us with her brother, Sonny Roberts and his wife Cindy, who will always be a fixture of a great older brother to all of us.

Jo Anne Roberts met G.W. Bass in 1975 and a spark of love ignited and never left. Jo Anne was G.W.’s crew chief in many ways in her life. She was always there when G.W. was racing, even taking a turn down the track herself.

Jo Anne loved life, friends, family, and everyone she met. She traveled far and wide across the U.S. and met some of the greatest friends of her life. She had a great love for all animals, including horses, especially her silent partner Razor.

Never without nails and jewelry, she was ready for anything life had to throw at her.

Jo Anne had two wonderful daughters Brooke Ford, husband Stephen Ford and their son Jacob Johnson and Sunny Crist, husband Lee Crist and their daughter Ashbey Crist who all gained so much from her.

Jo Anne will meet in Heaven, both her parents, best friend Renee Wood, granddaughter, Brittni Starr (Brooke Ford); grandson, William Cain Crist (Sunny Crist); and some great friends that are there to welcome her home.

Jo Anne lived a great life and shared it with anybody and everybody.

In lieu of flowers consider making a donation to the ALS foundation: Gift Processing Center PO Box 6051 Albert Lea, MN 56007, or Seven Hills Hospice: 2250 Murrell Road Lynchburg, VA 24501 because without them our journey would have been even harder.

She will be greatly missed and per her wishes we will celebrate her life at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg, Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 6-7:30 PM. The family will continue the celebration at the Stadium Inn following the visitation at Tharp Funeral Home. All are encouraged to ride their motorcycles.

Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory, Lynchburg (434-237-9424) is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent by visiting: obituaries.tharpfuneralhome.com
