Joan Clay Grant Wheat
Joan Clay Grant Wheat, of Bedford, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Woodhaven Nursing Home.
She was born in Hitchens, KY, a daughter of the late Archie Morris Clay and Ethel Womack Clay. She was retired from Allied Chemical in Hopewell, VA with 24 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Grant; a son, Randy Grant; two sisters, Naomi Dusenbury and Vada Woodall; and two brothers-in-law, John Dusenbury and Charles Woodall.
Joan is survived by her husband, Marvin Grey Wheat, of Bedford; two sons, Terry Grant and wife, Trish, of Shelbyville, KY, Larry Grant and wife, Esther, of Chesterfield, VA; four granddaughters, one grandson; five nieces; and a special friend, Jackie Grant Koon.
The family will receive friends this evening, March 10, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Wilkerson officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
