Joan Arlene Parker Gillett, 88, of Lynchburg, Va., died Sunday, August 28, 2016. She was the wife of the late Lester Elwyn Gillett.
Born Sunday, April 29, 1928, in Brewerton, N.Y., Joan was the daughter of the late John Wesley Parker and the late Margaret Becker Parker.
In addition to her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by her daughter, Justine G. Schnur; two brothers, John and Jerry Parker; and a grandchild.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Kathryn G. Bellows of Waterbury, Conn.; two sons, Daniel W. Gillett of Fulton, N.Y., and Thomas C. Gillett of Lynchburg, Va.; thirteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Bentley Commons and Gentle Shepherd Hospice for being so kind and loving to Joan.
A graveside service will be conducted at a later date in Hillside Memorial Cemetery Park, Central Square, N.Y.
