Joe T. Stern,75, of Lynchburg passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021. He was the loving husband of Carolyn Mae Chambers Stern for 28 years.
Born on July 16, 1946, in Lynchburg, Va., he was the son of the late Robert Merle Stern and Helen Thompson Stern.
Joe worked at the Lynchburg Foundry as a Melting Supervisor for 27 years and as a Truck Driver of several local companies to include Sterling Oil, J. Crew, and Service Trucking.
In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his two brothers, Bobby Stern and Wayne Stern and a brother-in law, Wayne Wheeler.
In addition to his wife Carolyn, Joe is survived by one brother, Robert M. Stern (Georgia); two sisters, Mary Lois Tomlin and Jean Crickenberger; sister-in-law, Mildred Wheeler and brother-in-law Fred Chambers (Jan); his two sons, Mike Stern (Rhonda) and Howie Stern (Kathryn); a daughter, Tammy Stern Mays (Charles); two stepdaughters, Deborah Ramey Gibson (Daniel Gibson) and Cheryle Ramey Johnson; five grandchildren, Rachel W. Webber, Hunter L. Gibson, Brittany L. Stern (Jason Williams), Whitney D. Stern (Brandon), Marissa M. Johnson and Robert Liam Stern; five great-grandchildren, Madison Stern, Kaylee Stern, Levi Williams, Logan May, and Abigail Ferguson; long time fishing buddies and friends, Deon Bronson, Dennis Staton, Ted Woody, Steve Thomas, Carl Cowan and many more!
If you knew Joe, you knew a friend. He was kind, compassionate, and generous. Joe was a hard-working family man who loved to work, fish and tend to his garden and flowers. Also, an animal lover he cherished his dogs, loved to feed the deer and birds. He will be greatly missed by many.
In lieu of Flowers the family has asked that a donation to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital be made in honor of Joe’s Memory.
