Joel “JJ” Joseph of Saint Petersburg, Florida passed away February 28th, 2016 suddenly in his sleep. He was 44 years old.
Joel was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on March 12, 1971. He attended Calvary Baptist Academy where he graduated in 1989. Joel served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp. He worked as a mail carrier for several years in Strongstown, Pennsylvania. Joel attended Hillsborough Community College in Florida and also attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia and graduated as a Registered Nurse. Joel worked at Bay Pines Veterans Hospital in Florida and had also worked at Salem Veterans Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.
Joel loved the outdoors, he loved hunting and fishing and grilling on his BBQ pit. He enjoyed his family and friends and was always there when someone needed help. Joel enjoyed making people laugh with his wild and crazy humor and had a caring heart for his work and taking care of his Veteran patients.
Joel is survived by his parents Joe and Carol; sister Diane Bridge and husband Jay; brothers, Barry Joseph, Nathan Joseph and wife Anna; nieces, Mariah, Madison and Morgynne Bridge, and his girlfriend Kris Windell all of Lynchburg.
A celebration of Joel’s life will be held at 11 o’clock Saturday March 5, 2016 in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am Saturday. Joel’s’ uncle the Rev. Fred Joseph will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park with full military honors.
