John Bonneau Steadman, 73, went home to glory on Sunday, October 30, 2011 in his home. He was not alone, his wife, Barbara Blankenship was with him.
Born on July 9, 1938 Steadman was born to Winfred Long and Bonneau Kennerly in Richmond, Virginia. Steadman was an avid and faithful member of Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon. Steadman graduated from VMI and worked as a professional civil engineer at Wiley and Wilson, was a member of the Lynchburg Kiwanis Club, CASA, was the Chairman of the City of Lynchburg Design Review Board for 12 years, the Regional Vice president of the Virginia Society Professional Engineers and achieved the VSPE Outstanding Service Award. He was extremely passionate about civil war history, coin collecting and most of all, his family.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, sister: Anne Steadman Fletcher and three children: Robin Steadman Smith and her husband Mark, Mark Kennerly Steadman and his wife Holly and Heath Brian Steadman and his wife Michelle. Grandchildren include: Dana Smith, Rachael Smith, John Mark Steadman and Mary Katherine Steadman.
He enjoyed being with his friends and family to the very last day and imitated the Lord\"™s love to everyone he knew and met.
The memorial service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Ron Cox officiating. A reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions to be made to Gideon\"™s International, Sports Outreach or World Help.
