John Batwinas, 79, of Moneta, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Joan Collins Batwinas for 59 years.
Born on October 17, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late John Joseph Batwinas and Olga Rose Luscovich Batwinas. He was predeceased by his brother Michael.
John retired from Hudson City Savings as a bank officer; he also served in the U.S. Navy. While living in New Jersey he served on the Volunteer Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad of Rockaway and belonged to the N.J. Bankers Assoc. He attended Eastlake Community Church in Moneta.
In addition to his wife, Joan, he is survived by his son Scott Batwinas and wife, Tracy; daughters Dawn Howie and husband, Daren; Kimberly Thompson; sister Theresa Bartell; Sister-in-law Pat Collins; and five grandchildren: Shannon Batwinas, Bradford Howie, Travis Howie, Emily Thompson and Kyle Thompson.
