John Russell Biller, 80, of Lynchburg passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024, at his home. He was the husband of Isabel Kunchick Biller for over 58 years.
John was born on September 11, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Russell Frank Biller and Anna Ahlbach Biller. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University and a Master’s Degree and a PhD in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He enjoyed photography, racquetball and tennis. He was a member of the ROMEO group (Retired Old Men Eating Out). He was a founding member and parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. John was retired from Areva (now Framatome) where he worked as a nuclear engineer. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Amy Boucher and husband Roger Boucher Jr. of Roanoke, two grandsons, Noah and Aidan Boucher both of Roanoke, and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11 A.M.- 12 P.M. on July 3, 2024, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
A funeral mass for John will be held at 12 P.M. on July 3, 2024, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. A reception to follow. Inurnment at the church columbarium will be held at a later date.
