John Dahl Cooke, Jr.

John Dahl Cooke, Jr., 62, of Roanoke, Virginia, originally from Virginia Beach, passed away on

Tuesday, January 30, 2024. He was the son of the late John Dahl Cooke, Sr., and Julianne

Etheridge Cooke.

He was born on January 14, 1962, in Norfolk, Virginia. He graduated from Kellam High School,

then pursued his B.S. degree in Education at Atlantic Christian College.

John enjoyed working out and weightlifting, spending time with his family, listening to music,

and watching Pokémon with Bella, watching sports, especially keeping up with his nephew

Ethan’s high school career. John dedicated many years in the field of Crisis Counseling helping others.

John is survived by his loving wife Katina Louise Cooke, his children Andy Parker and Jordan

Parker, his granddaughter Bella, his sister and brother-in-law Jan and Ryan Richards, his nephew

Ethan Richards, his aunt and uncle Mandy and Butch Baum, and many loving cousins, friends

and fur babies.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his grandparents Benjamin A.

Etheridge, Almina F. Etheridge, Richard B. Cooke, and Julia Mae Lowe. Also, his beloved side kick

Yorkie, Star Baby.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to

your local animal shelter as John had a special place in his heart for animals.
