Lt. Col., John D. Power (Ret. USAF, MSC) , age 69, of O’ Fallon, ILL., died Thursday, January 19, 2017.
John retired from the US Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel Medical Service Corps Officer. After retirement he was a government contractor. He was a member of the White House Military Aides Association, Rotary International (Paul Harris Fellow), Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives, a founder for the O’Fallon High School hockey Organization, former president of the MidAmerican Collegiate Hockey Association and a referee of football, basketball, softball and volleyball.
A graduate of EC Glass and Virginia Military Institute, he also held a master’s degree from George Washington University and Webster University.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Yuille Power and Rosamond Virginia Power. He is survived by his wife, Kimberley Klein Power, whom he marries February 27, 1977; his sons, Jason D. Power (Catherine) and Marcus C. Power; his grandchildren, Lillian and Jackson Power (all of Illinois); his brother, Thomas Michael Power and sister Deborah K. Power (Lloyd Solberg) of Lynchburg.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Kalmer Memorial Services, 8638 US Hwy 50, Lebanon.
John’s cremated remains will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
