John Edd Witt, 71, of Bedford, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014. Born July 13, 1942 in Bedford; he was a son of the late Dillard Webster Witt and Iver Annabell Bowyer Witt.
John worked as a machine operator for Frank Chervan and also drove an 18-wheeler for many years with Webbs Oil Corporation. He loved being outdoors, watching planes, woodworking, building birdhouses, and spending time with his pets – especially his cats.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia “Cindi” Anne Witt, a daughter, Beth Atkins; a stepson, Jamie Dale Witt; brothers, Charles William Witt and Frank J. Witt; and sisters, Lelia Witt Hodges and Eunice Witt LaPradd. Surviving are his stepdaughter, Karen Sipes; daughter, Teresa Roberts; stepson, Joseph K. Johnson; twelve step-grandchildren, Kasey, Cheryl, DJ, Brittanie, JD, Ashley, Cierra, Anthony, Amanda, Kaitlyn, Jay, and Bryan; numerous great-grandchildren; and brother, George M. Witt.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 27, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, 540-586-3443.
