John Foster Heckman, 92, of Lynchburg, Va. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 27, 2019.
John was born to Arthur and Cecil Foster Heckman on January 16, 1927, in Chambersburg, Pa. He married Laura Elizabeth Etter on June 23, 1951, in Chambersburg Pa. The majority of their lives were spent serving others in Lynchburg at Thomas Road Baptist Church and by way of Sew Simple, Inc., their family business. They were also active Gideons.
He is survived by his three daughters: Nancy Hesse (Charlie), Donna Guthrie (Dave), Ruth Erquiaga (Michael); and his two sons, Phil Heckman (Tassy) and Paul Heckman (Missy). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Thomas Road Baptist Church, Main Sanctuary with the Reverend Jonathan Falwell officiating. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service from 5-6 p.m. A private interment will be held.
