John Harold McEwan, 93, of Lynchburg, and formerly Forest, passed away at the Summit Heath and Rehab on Saturday, December 12, 2015. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Barbara Riebs McEwan, his sister Daphne Henderson and her husband Bill, and his parents, Harold and Alice McEwan.
He is survived by three daughters, Karen Schwabe and her husband, Ed. Kathleen Sherman and her husband Artie, and Susan Williams; grand-daughters Lauren Sweers and her husband Peter and Kristin Williams and her fiancé Nate Rich, and great-grandsons Jackson, Harrison and Hudson.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the European and Pacific theatres. After the war he attended the University of Southern California where he met his wife Barbara. He was a Data Processing Manager for Square D Company retiring in 1972.
The family sends their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Summit for the truly exceptional and loving care they provided to John over the years.
