A 1958 graduate of Dunbar High School, Lynchburg, VA, and John enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1959 and served for four years. During that time he was stationed in Texas, Alaska, Missouri and New York. As a hardworking and devoted employee of Lynchburg Foundry for 30 years, he did not let hurricanes, floods, severe ice or deep snow storms stop him from going to work. He was a member of Crossroad Baptist Church, Evington, VA.
As a devoted family man, he loved and was totally committed to his home life. He enjoyed cutting grass, shoveling snow, working around his home and just being neighborly. He displayed a quiet strength that spoke volumes through his actions.
The family will miss him and will honor him by loving one another with deep commitment, truth and honesty. A memorial service was held on Friday, November 1, 2013. We, the family, would like to thank all who loved and supported us with many special acts of kindness during his brief illness.
