John Lynn Sullivan, 68, of Lynchburg, Va., received God’s ultimate gift of love and grace Friday, December 23, 2016, when he joined his beloved son, David, in Heaven. He was the loving husband of Jackie Lynn Sullivan for 40 years.

Born on September 20, 1948, in Clearwater, Fla., he was the son of Jackson and Icle Sullivan. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Postal Service. John met his wife, Jackie, in Jacksonville Beach, Fla. in 1977. In 1981 John and Jackie welcomed their only son, David Lynn Sullivan into the world. John was a loving father and devoted husband.

In addition to his parents, Jackson and Icle Sullivan, John was preceded in death by his best friend, and cherished son, David Lynn Sullivan; his brother, Newton Sullivan; and his sister, Virginia Wanat.

John is survived by his wife, Jackie Sullivan; two brothers, Jack Sullivan of Tallahassee, Fla., Bobby Sullivan of Brooksville, Fla.; four sisters-in-law, Illma Sullivan of Brooksville, Fla., Barbara Sullivan of Tallahassee, Fla., Bonnie Sullivan of Brooksville, Fla., Brenda Bass of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; two brothers-in-law, John Wanat of Brooksville, Fla., Robert Bass of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; four nephews, Ronnie Sullivan of Orlando, Fla., Richie Sullivan of Brooksville, Fla., Matthew Sullivan of Bradenton, Fla., Patrick Sullivan of Tallahassee, Fla.; six nieces, Judy Procida of Inverness, Fla., Joni Procida of Brooksville, Fla., Courtney Sullivan of Brooksville, Fla., Delaney Sullivan of Brooksville, Fla., Madison Bass of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., Marissa Bass of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; and his prodigal son, Roger Gilliam.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday January 14, 2017, at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Wayne Lanham officiating.
