John Martinez Rocha, Sr.

John Martinez Rocha Sr., 79, of Rustburg, VA, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, January 03, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Alice Steele Rocha for 55 years.
Born Thursday, May 07, 1936 in San Antonio, TX, John was a son of the late Charles Rocha and the late Eleanor Martinez Rocha. He proudly served our country as a member of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his four children and their families:
Jackie Lynn Deaner of Concord, John Martinez Rocha Jr. and his wife Dee of Fincastle, Charles Michael Rocha and Tabatha of Rustburg, and Dion Elizabeth Sitler and her husband Ronnie of Rustburg, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two sisters, two brothers, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was loved by many and will be terribly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Thursday January 7, 2016, Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A celebration of John’s life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 08, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Lynne Alley-Grant and Rev. Dr. Tom Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Cumbie Memorial Cemetery, Rustburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Timberlake United Methodist Church, 21649 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, VA, 24502; or Cumbie Memorial Cemetery Maintenance Fund, 1812 Village Highway, Rustburg, VA, 24588.
