John Burroughs Pettypool

John Burroughs Pettypool, 77, of Rustburg, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025.

John was born in Brookneal, Virginia on April 8, 1947, a son of the late John Burrus Pool, Jr. and Georgia Edens Pool. John was retired as a professional truck driver and he enjoyed gardening. 

He is survived by his children: Heather Mays of Monroe, John “Jay” Pool (Dawn), of Monroe, and Stephanie Wright (Adam), seven grandchildren: Zander Mays, Brianna Mays, John Michael Pool, Gillian Brown, Natalie Pool, Carter Pool, Haleigh Wright, and Oland Wright, a sister Carol Seekford of Gladys, and his dear close friend Dorothy “Dottie” Turpin of Rustburg.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2025, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg with Pastor Timothy Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
