John Reid (Toppy) Sigmon, 79, of Madison Heights VA, died Friday, November 2, 2018.
Born in Amherst County, VA, February 4, 1939, he was the son of the late John Reed Sigmon and Elsie Watts Sigmon.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Sigmon and sisters, Lois Proffitt and Elsie Higginbotham.
John proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines, he retired as a foreman of Commercial Steel, and was a member of Union Christian Church. John loved his family and loved playing music with all of his friends throughout the years in his “In House Band”.
He is survived by his son: Clifford Sigmon; Daughters: Pamela Sigmon and Lisa Vergara; sister: Dorothy Sigmon; grandchildren: Jason (Mary) Cottrill, Crystal Beeson, Sharay (Ryan) Holden, John Allen Sigmon, Christopher and Luis Vergara; seven greatgrandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights conducted by the Rev. Barry Tucker at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Elon Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Please make memorial contributions to Elon Presbyterian Church.
