John W. Collins, 69, of Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 11, 2016. He is survived by his beloved wife Lorette J. Collins.
John grew up in Pennsauken, NJ and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. John retired to Smith Mountain Lake after a career of thirty-two years as a Customer Service Manager at the 3M Company. He enjoyed fishing and boating on Smith Mountain Lake and socializing with his dear friends there. He will be remembered always as the life of the party.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by many cousins and friends. He will be especially missed by Bob and Peg Woolford and Carol and Bud Burrows, and his loving in-laws; Bob, Mary, Lenore, Pat, Lois, Lorraine, Chris and Linda. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Dorothy Collins, and one brother-in-law Billy.
Services will take place in Collingswood, NJ at a later date, with interment at Bethel Memorial Park, in New Jersey.
