John William “J.W.” Stinnett, Jr. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on February 4, 2025.
J.W. was the son of John, Sr. and Dorothy Lyons Stinnett of Monroe VA. He is survived by his son, John "Jake" Stinnett III and preceded in death by his wife, Michele Beirne Stinnett.
JW was well known in the Lynchburg area as a top-notch entertainer and musician. JW got his start entertaining at a young age performing with his mother, Mama Dot. He was the front man for many local bands including The Allwood Ark, Second Wind, Second Helping, The Chili Brothers and the JW and Dean King duo. What set him apart was his ability to engage the audience in his shows. It was impossible not to get up and dance or even join him onstage.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, starting at 4:00 p.m. at the American Legion, 1301 Greenview Drive, Lynchburg VA.
The family would like to thank JW's dear friends, Jerry Bryant, Susan and Jim Clark and Nancy Wiley for all their support.
