Johnson Hugh Gupton, 58, of Bedford, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 6, 2018. He was the loving husband of Kathy Blackburn Gupton.
Born on December 13, 1959 in Winston Salem, North Carolina, he was a son of Will Johnson Gupton, Jr. and the late Delores Jean Gibbons Gupton.
Johnny is also survived by his daughter: Melody Robin (songbird) as Johnny liked to call her,
brother: Jerry Gupton and wife, Deanna; two nephews: Josh Gupton and wife, Allison, Jeremy Gupton and wife, Skyler; great-niece: Whitley Gupton; and stepmother: Mary Lou Gulpton.
Johnny was a member of Sedalia Baptist Church he was very involved in the mission fields. He spent his career being a pastor, a worship leader and a singer. He was employed part time at Tharp Funeral Home.
A visitation for Johnny will be held, Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford from 11:00-1:00. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. at Tharp with Rev. Mike Jones and Rev. Bill Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Sedalia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Johnny will always be remembered for his positive outlook on life and his laugh that would fill up a room. He will be missed by everyone at Tharp Funeral Home and all that knew him.
