Jorge Ivan Cadavid, 56, from Medellin, Colombia, passed away peacefully in his home in Moneta, Virginia on January 15, 2021. 

Jorge was the son of the late Javier and Josefina Cadavid. He is survived by his son, Diego Cadavid; daughter, Esmeralda Garzon; grandson, Elijah Cadavid; and siblings Francisco, Claudia, Carlos, Fernando, and Jose Cadavid. Jorge will be remembered for his generosity and devotedness to his family, in both Virginia and Colombia. He will be deeply missed by his

family, friends, and all who knew him. 

Yupi, as he was known by his loved ones, was a devoted father and grandfather. In his free time, he enjoyed growing plants and cycling around the Smith Mountain Lake area. He owned a successful painting business, Brothers Painting, where he was able to work closely with his family and friends. He recently began working on building a home in Colombia, that will be named after his mother, Josefina. Yupi, will always be known for his great sense of humor and lighting up every room he walked into. 

A memorial service and celebration of Jorge’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2012 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, in Bedford, Virginia.

Jorge Iván Cadavid, de 56 años, nacido en Medellín, Colombia, falleció pacíficamente en su hogar de Moneta, Virginia, el 15 de enero 2021.

Jorge era hijo del Señor Javier y Señora Josefina Cadavid, ya fallecidos le sobreviven su hijo Diego Cadavid, su hija Esmeralda Garzón, su nieto Elijah Cadavid y sus hermanos Francisco, Claudia, Carlos Fernando y José Cadavid.  Jorge va a ser recordado por su generosidad y devoción a su familia, tanto en Virginia como en Colombia.  Su familia, amigos y todas las personas que lo conocieron lo extrañaran profundamente.

Yupi, como le decían sus seres queridos, fue un padre y abuelo muy dedicado. En su tiempo libre el disfrutaba de hacer ciclismo alrededor de Smith Mountain Lake y de cultivar plantas. Él era dueño de un negocio de pintura exitoso, Brothers Painting, donde pudo trabajar cerca de su familia y amigos. El recientemente había comenzado a construir una casa en Colombia, la cual iba a nombrar en honor a su madre, Josefina.  Yupi, siempre será recordado por su increíble sentido humor y por alegrar cada lugar donde él entraba.

Un servicio de conmemoración y la celebración de la vida de Jorge se efectuará el jueves 21 de enero 2021 a las 10:00 a.m., en la Capilla de la Funeraria Tharp, ubicada en Bedford, Virginia.
