Joseph William Bryant

October 4, 1932 — January 22, 2024

Lynchburg

Joseph William Bryant was born on October 4th, 1932. He was born the first and only son of Joseph Bland Bryant and Margaret Brent Bryant of Roseland, Va. He graduated from Fleetwood High School in Nelson County. After his graduation, Joe proudly served his country as part of the US Navy during the Korean War from 1950 till 1965. Upon his honorable discharge from military service, Joe entered the work force as an electrician with General Electric and eventually retired from R.R. Donnelley.

Joe was an avid runner and often participated in the Virginia 10-Miler. Joe was a man of deep faith and served in all the churches he was a member of as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and many other roles. He also celebrated a long and loving marriage of over 60 years with his wife Lowrell Bryant who preceded him in death. Joe was an active father and grandfather to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his three children: Michael Bryant and wife Theresa, Cheri Whitney and husband Paul, and Karen Dearden and her husband Shaun. He has six grandchildren and three great grandchildren: Andrea Swift and daughter Tess, Michael Johnston, Jonathan Bryant, Katlyn Edwards and her husband Tyler and son Gabriel, Daniel Dearden, and Rachel Campbell and her husband Jacob and son Byron. Joe is also survived by his sister Nancy Coffee and her husband Harry and a great number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his close friend Sue Lampman along with many other friends and neighbors.

One thing Joe would want all who read this to know, is that accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the most important decision one will ever make in this life!
