Joseph Hugh Bennett, 81, of Lynchburg, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, February 25, 2016. He was the loving husband of Miriam E. Bennett.
Born on November 14, 1934, Joseph was a son of the late Charles William Bennett and the late Mattie Selby Bennett. A true Christian man, Joseph also served as a minister for twenty years as well. After his ministry, he was an insurance agent for various agencies.
In addition to his beloved wife, Joseph is survived by a daughter, Karen J. Dillard and her husband, Byron; three sons, Keith A. Bennett and his wife, Lori, Kenneth D. Bennett and his wife, Sherri Ann, and Kevin R. Bennett; three grandchildren, Shelby Dillard, Ben Dillard and his wife, Lauren, and Bradley Joseph Bennett and his wife, Lyndsey; two great-grandchildren, Allison and Emily Dillard; and his sister, Elizabeth Smith.
A funeral service will take place at Tharp Funeral Home’s Lynchburg Chapel on Monday, February 29, 2016, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Milton Brown and Pastor Shalev officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
