Josephine \"Jo\" Bullington of Homewood Nursing Home in Williamsport, MD, died April 10, 2011.
Born May 18, 1913, in Troutdale, Virginia, Grayson County, she was the daughter of the late Blanche May Greear Paisley and Grover Cleveland Paisley. Mrs. Bullington was a graduate of Jefferson High School, Roanoke, VA in 1931 and National Business College in Roanoke in 1933. She was a member of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church since 1949 where she served in many ways: Life Deaconess, Official Church Clerk for 20 years, taught a Ladies\"™ Sunday School Class for 33 years, was the Pastor\"™s Secretary for 13 years, wrote the church history for Rivermont\"™s 75th (1971) anniversary and the 100th (1996) anniversary. Mrs. Bullington was a Charter member and First Program Chairman of the Virginia Baptist Hospital Auxiliary.
Her husband of 72 years, B. B. Bullington passed away September 2, 2010.
Mrs. Bullington is survived by one son, Jerry, and his wife, Jenny, of Hagerstown, MD; two grandchildren, Robert B. Bullington and his wife, Katie, of Richmond, VA, and Lynsey W. Rini and her husband, Robert, of Hilton Head, SC; two great-grandsons, Cyrus B. and Harper V. Bullington of Richmond; and one step-great-grandson, Sam Rini of Hilton Head. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Doris Wall of Danbury, NC, a brother-in-law, Roy Bullington of Collinsville, VA., two nephews, Leon Wall and his wife, Joyce and son, Chad of North Carolina and Larry Paisley of California
She enjoyed a special relationship with many of her cousins and always enjoyed the times they could be together.
In addition to her husband, Jo was preceded in death by one brother, Greear Paisley and his wife, Mary Hugh.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 17, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Dr., Lynchburg, Va.
A Burial Service will be held on Monday, April 18th at Fort Hill Memorial Park, 5196 Fort Ave., Lynchburg. A Service of Remembrance will follow at 11 a.m. at Rivermont Ave. Baptist Church, 1301 Rivermont Ave., Lynchburg. The Rev. Nathanael B. (Nick) Habel will officiate.
