Josephine S Miller

September 23, 1931 — April 25, 2018

One Spring afternoon, April 24, 2018, God’s beloved daughter, Josephine E. Miller, 86, of 944 Cabell St., Lynchburg, Va., was called home by her heavenly Father, Jesus Christ at Lynchburg General Hospital. Josephine E. Miller was born September 23, 1931 to the late Fannie M. Slaughter and Morton J. Slaughter. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Aubrey P. Miller, Sr.; two sons Kent Miller and Glenn Miller; three sisters, Margaret S. Austin, Mabel Slaughter, and Louise E. Slaughter; three brothers, Silas Slaughter, London E. Slaughter, and James L. Slaughter; three grandsons, Sean Fisher, Master Jason Jefferson, and Master Richard Broggin III; and one granddaughter, Miss Portia Nicole Smith.

She was a lifelong member of Altha Grove Baptist Church where she joined at an early age. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing praises to God. She was a member of the senior choir and couples choir. Along with her husband, they were major benefactors of the missionary ministry at Altha Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by one beautiful daughter, Marilyn (Joseph, Deceased) Miller Fisher; three handsome sons, Carl (Sandra) Miller, Aubrey, Jr. (Gloria) Miller, and Gregory Miller, all of Lynchburg, Va.; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Josephine was a seamstress and a long time employee of Kwik As A Wink Dry Cleaners.

Josephine leaves to cherish her legacy two devoted friends, Joyce Jefferson and Darlene Calloway, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 29 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Josephine will lie in repose one hour prior to the services.  Services will be held at Altha Grove Baptist Church on April 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will be in the church cemetery following the service.
