Joyce Ann Carter

Joyce Ann Carter, 74, of Thaxton, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023. A daughter of the late Luther Davis Carter and Hazel Virginia Orange Carter. In addition to her parents Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Clifford Carter and her brother, Ronald Davis “Ronnie” Carter.

Joyce attended Cool Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was always up for a delicious meal. She also enjoyed watching T.V. especially game shows. Joyce never really had a care in the world. Her smile was contagious, and she was always filled with joy. Her love for her cats was very evident and she was loved by her family and friends.

Joyce is survived by children, Anthony Wayne Carter and Teresa Dawn Carter; two grandchildren; siblings, Peggy Carter Nester, James “Blu” Carter and his wife, Debbie, Linda Carter Savage and her husband, Vann and Debora Carter and her special friend, Teresa Hodges; sister-in-law, Rickie Ferris Carter. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A funeral service and celebration of Joyce’s life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Tharp Funeral Chapel in Bedford with Rev. Shane McSweeney officiating. Burial will follow at Peaks Church and Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00pm on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford.
