D. Joyce Detamore, 66, of Bedford, died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born on November 25, 1945 she was the daughter of the late Arlie Elmer Mullins and Beatrice Mullins. In addition to her father, Joyce was preceded in death by two granddaughters and a great-granddaughter. She was a member of Lighthouse Free Will Baptist Church in Bedford. Joyce was the owner and operator of Joyce\"™s Beauty Salon where she dedicated 30 years of service to her devoted clients.
In addition to her mother she is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Joe Detamore; a son, Joey Detamore and his wife, Valerie of Bedford; two daughters, Tammey Overstreet and her husband, Pat of Bedford and Sherry Lafon and her husband, Clinton of Bedford and; four sisters, Delois McCoy and her husband, Vastine, Reta Blankenship, Loretta Parker and her husband, Bob, Donetta Van Dyke and her husband, Allen; two brothers, Ronnie Mullins and his wife Evelyn and Randall Mullins and his wife Sharon; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her precious pets, Lacey and Bailey.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Tharp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Lafon and Rev. Larry Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
