Joyce ‘Buttercup’ Denise Guion, born on May 8, 1961, in the heart of Lynchburg, VA, gracefully danced into eternity on November 24, 2024, at the tender age of 63. We gather here, united by love and memories, to honor the extraordinary life of a woman who cherished every moment.
Joyce was a woman of unwavering strength and a genuine heart. Her selflessness shone brightly when she faced one of life’s fiercest battles: breast cancer. But Joyce was no ordinary fighter; she charged forward with courage and determination, defined not by her illness but by the love she poured into her family.
Family meant everything to Joyce. As an in-home caregiver for her beloved son, she became the very essence and heartbeat of the Guion family. Known to her grandchildren as “Granny,” a title she wore as proudly as a crown, Joyce relished every giggle and hiccup in their growth, investing in them her deepest wishes and dreams. Her legacy of love, strength, and togetherness will echo in their hearts and live on through every family story. Joyce’s faith in Christ was integral to her spirit. As she journeyed toward becoming a Jehovah’s Witness, she passionately embraced every teaching and scripture as a beacon of hope and strength. Her kindness, selflessness, and strong-minded nature shone as brightly as the sun. She treated every neighbor and friend as family, always taking the time to genuinely ask how they were doing, making even the simplest conversation an uplifting experience.
Joyce is preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Ronald D. Guion Sr., and her dear mother, Audrey Robinson, who are undoubtedly embracing her with open arms.
She is celebrated and remembered by her children, Ronald D. Guion Jr., Rachelle S. Guion, Raven G. Moore, and sonin-law Justin Moore; her grandchildren, Kendrick N. Moore, and Isla E. Moore; her siblings, Gregory Wright, Debra Wright, Evonne Wright, Amanda Wright, Thomas Robinson, Shawn Robinson, and April Robinson; and a host of nieces and nephews. Additionally, Joyce leaves behind her longtime friends Deanna Cox and Yolanda Harmon, whom she considered her sisters. All will treasure the memories and love she gave so freely.
