Joyce Persinger Showalter, 79 of Lynchburg, went home to be with Jesus Thursday, November 15, 2012. She was the loving wife of Franklin T. \"Tom\" Showalter for 59 years.
She was born in Dunellon, NJ, a daughter of the late John Edward Persinger and Beatrice Apgar Persinger.
Joyce was a long time member of Timberlake Baptist Church and her greatest joy was her family.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Selleck of Big Island, and Kimberly Wharram of Richmond, three granddaughters; Julia Martin of Covington, Crystal Hunt of Lynchburg and Hailey Wharram of Richmond; five great-grandchildren; Chole Hubbard, Caleb Ingram, Tommy Hunt, Allie Hunt and Ryan Hunt. Two brothers-in-law: Guy Showalter of Daleville and Jack Showalter of Staunton; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Slusher and a lifelong friend Emily Mlinarovich of Dunellon, NJ.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg,
A celebration of Joyce\"™s life will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, November 19, 2012 at Timberlake Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Bryan Ferrell officiating.
Interment will be held at 2:30 pm on Monday, November 19, 2012 at Central Advent Cemetery, Rt. 60 Clifton Forge VA. 24422
