Joyce Theresa Green, 81, of Lynchburg passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011 after a long illness.
Born May 6, 1930 in Washington DC, she was the daughter of the late Leonard S. and Norah C. Bussler.
Her husbands, Robert A. Thibodeau Sr. and Vernon J. Green, as well as her brother, Rowland L. Bussler and her sister Beverly B. Noone, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children: Susanne M. Doucet, daughter, Brighton, CO; Robert A. Thibodeau, Jr., son, Gladys, VA; Mary C. Thibodeau, daughter, Lynchburg, VA; John M. Thibodeau, son, Forest, VA; Carol T. Midkiff, daughter, Forest, VA; Joseph L. Thibodeau, Sr., son, Gladys, VA and Jean N. Childress, daughter, Lynchburg, VA. as well as 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
She is also survived by two siblings, Warren P. Bussler, brother, Davidsonville, MD and Cecilia B. Hildebrandt, sister, Lynchburg, VA.
Joyce was a devoted wife and mother and a quiet woman of strong faith. She was blessed with many artistic talents that she shared with others over the years including: oil painting, poetry, writing, floral arranging, ceramics, unique knitting, crocheting and sewing projects, along with numerous arts and crafts endeavors. She was never too busy to stop and patiently take the time to share her talents with others. Her most recent passion was dealing in antiques. She would often take special requests from family for obscure pieces and return elated with her find. Her keen eye for unusually beautiful cut glass and the joy she took in the \"treasure hunting\" leaves her family with many fond memories that will be treasured for years to come.
The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home on Breezewood Drive in Lynchburg Sunday evening, October 2, 2011 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. A celebration mass will be held Monday, October 3, 2011 at 12:30pm at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Roundelay Rd in Lynchburg VA.
