Joyce Waller Williams, lovingly known as Wrinka Gran, of Bedford entered eternal rest in the arms of her Savior on Saturday, February 20, 2021.
Born in Rustburg, June 20, 1936, she was the youngest daughter of the late Lemuel Oris and Irene Carwile Waller. Joyce graduated from Rustburg High School and worked for GE\Ericsson until her retirement in 1996. She was a member of Tree of Life Ministries although she had not been able to attend services for some time.
Although Joyce was an avid lover of birds and all things flowery, Joyce’s life was about family. She loved and adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 38 years, Herbert Arthur Williams of Bedford; a sister, Juanita Barbour of Rustburg; a daughter, Deborah (Billy) Blankenship of Lynchburg, a son, Darrell (Jenny) Mays of Evington; grandchildren Courtney (Jeremy) Langlois, Nikki Rosser (Clif), David Mays lll, Jade (Justin) Wright, Travis (Desirae) Mays, Amanda Bowling, Cory (Alyssa) Mays, Dana (Paul) Inge, Heather Crank, Hannah Mays, and Taylor Burnett; great-grandchildren Trinity Tyree, Lilli Goodwin, Ayden Mays, Natalie Bowling, Aleaha Mays-Hart, Jett Rosser, Colton Mays, Michael Langlois, Addison Bowling, Bentlee Edwards, Sydney Mays, Jaxon Wright, Alayna Mays-Hart, Peyton Crank, Ali Jade Mays, Kayliegh Inge, McKinsey Inge, Hadley Mays, and Nova Leigh Crank; a niece, Brenda Barbour Guthrie, as well as great-nieces and nephew.
She was preceded in death by two infant brothers, a son, David “Allen” Mays, Jr. and a nephew, Moncy “Wee Wee” Barbour.
Family night will be held at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg tonight, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2021 followed by burial at New Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Rustburg.
