Juanita Burford Campbell

Juanita Burford Campbell, 85, of Bedford died Monday, June 4, 2012. She was married to the late William Burriel Ashwell and the late James Kinkle Campbell.

Juanita was born April 11, 1927, in Bedford County a daughter of the late Ezra Burford and Esther Abbott Burford.  Juanita retired from B & W, she also worked at Progress Printing and was a member of Memorial Christian Church. Juanita was a sociable person who enjoyed people, family, friends and her church.  She was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan and she took great pleasure in knitting, crocheting, and gardening.     

She is survived by her sons: Daniel B. Ashwell and wife Peggy of Lynchburg, and Douglas W. Ashwell, of Lynchburg, and a stepson, Chris Campbell of Oklahoma; Sisters: Kathleen Hawkins of Lynchburg, and Norma Jean Hawkins and husband Jack of Goode, four grandchildren: \"Danny Boy\" Ashwell, Jr. of Lynchburg David and wife Lori Ashwell of South Boston, Mary Campbell of Appomattox and Wendy Seabolt of Oklahoma, three great-grandchildren: Logan, Lucas, and Taylor Ashwell of South Boston. Also surviving are her special friends: Ron, Bev, Debbie, Barbie, Cindy, Bea, Claudine, Gladys, Jeannette, Opal four sisters in law, Jewel Burford, of Lynchburg, Elsie Burford, of Bedford, Alice Hodges of Forest, Virginia Abbott of North Carolina and Sarah Burford of Suffolk and many nieces and nephews.

 

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Rucker, Landon, Clyde, and Macon Burford.

 

A Celebration of Juanita\"™s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 7, 2012, at Memorial Christian Church with the Reverends Virgil & Sue Knipp officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service at the church.

The family would also like to express their thanks to the staff of Bedford County Nursing Home and a very special niece, Sandra Collins, for their love and care of Juanita.
