Juanita Hoylman

d. August 20, 2023

Juanita Hoylman, 91, of Lynchburg, Virginia went to be with the Lord on August 20, 2023.  Her faith in God was strong.

She was the daughter of the late Francisco and Edna Panuelos.  In addition to her parents, Nita is predeceased by her brothers Dennis Panuelos (Mary) and Francis (Buddy) Panuelos as well as her sisters Helen Laber (George), Florence Hernandez (Cirilo) and Beatrice (Betty) Snyder.

Nita was born on January 15, 1933, in Portsmouth, Virginia. She had many hobbies over the years including sewing, painting, crocheting, knitting and camping. She loved animals and nature, birds and flowers.  She especially loved being around family.

Nita is survived by her husband, William Hoylman.  Their marriage of 67 years was filled with love and companionship.  Nita and Bill met at the USO where she worked and he frequented as an Army soldier.  No matter where work or play took them over the years, it was always together.  Her dog Angel, who she dearly loved, filled her heart with joy.

Although Nita had no children, she is survived by her many nieces and nephews who adored her; David Dutka (Cheryl), Steve Dutka (Debi), Becky Bruffey (Ken), Robert Dutka, Patty Webb (Wink), Brenda McManus (Jerry), Edward Lewis, Glenda Brooks (Bobby), Teresa Caputo (Bobby), Sandra (Punky) Laber, Rita Laber, Peggy Walker, Patti Jarrett, and Dennis Hernandez (Carol).  Along with several great and great great nieces and nephews.

Sister Grace Malonzo, Nita’s life long friend, was always in her thoughts and she spoke of their friendship often. She also held a special place in her heart for Dr. Stefan Gorsch and Meredith Quarles, PA-C.

Thank you to all of the Centra personnel who provided care for her over the last few weeks.  May the memories of Nita’s songs of praise, quirky songs of joy and comical quips bring a smile to your face. She never met a stranger and anyone who met her knows of her kindness and love that she was so willing to share.  She loved us well, our hearts are overflowing.  May we all learn from her love and kindness and pass it along to others.

Her family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lynchburg Humane Society.
