Juanita Inez West Harris, 75, of Lynchburg, VA, died Thursday, April 02, 2020.
Born Friday, June 9, 1944 in New York, NY, Juanita was a daughter of the late Jack West and the late Zemoria Jefferson West.
In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her brother, Kernal Bryant West and sister Lillian West.
Juanita is survived by her children, Deborah Mayumba, and her husband, Robert Mayumba, of Austin, TX, Sandee Harris, of Durham, NC, and Michael Harris, of Atlanta, GA as well as grandsons Trystan and Brandon Mayumba of Austin. She is also survived by her remaining sisters Olivia Hedgpeth and Barbara Jean West both of Atlanta, GA., her beloved dog Hunter and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Juanita was passionate about all things Christ and dedicated her life to learning all about the world’s religions in order to help others find their spiritual way. After earning her BA in Religion and MA in Leadership from Luther Rice College and Seminary in Lithonia, GA she went on to study Divinity at Liberty University in Lynchburg. In her later years, she went on to counsel young women at the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center in Lynchburg where she remained until her passing.
She was a lively, upbeat and strong woman who loved to sing and was an excellent cook!
