Judith Ann Lloyd Yancey (Judy), 65, of Amherst County died Sunday November 13, 2016. She was the wife of the late Melvin “Sonny” Jackson Yancey, Jr.
Judy was born May 22, 1951 in Amherst County, a daughter of the late William Ross Lloyd, Jr. and Mildred Burks Lloyd. Judy worked for many years at the Central Virginia Training Center and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe.
She is survived by her three grandchildren: Carroll “C.J.” Wright, Jr. and his fiancée Caitlyn Critzer of Lynchburg, Hannah Breanne Wright and her fiancée Benjamin Wesley Abbott of Amherst, and Candice Louise Wright of Lynchburg, a sister Pamela Campbell of Halifax, a brother Warren Lloyd of Rustburg, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her loving dog “Oprah”.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Teresa Ann Yancey.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home Madison Heights.
