Judith Elaine Legon Emanuel, 65, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. She was born on July 8, 1959, to the late Frank Eugene Legon and Winifred Janet Duval Legon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Legon.
Judith worked for many years as a gifted education teacher in the Bedford County Public School System. She had a love for flowers and enjoyed spending time tending to her gardens, but her real love was for her quilting. She was a master quilter, and over the years had made quilts and quilting samplers for many friends. Each of her six grandchildren have had a quilt made for them, along with a bed quilt for each of her three children. Truly a source of inspiration to her family and friends considering she only had the use of her right hand since 2017.
But her real love was for people and sharing the love of Jesus that had changed her life and brought her through many trials and tribulations. Many times she could be found talking to people in grocery lines and department stores sharing the life changing words of Christ. Her love and prayers for her family were always obvious, sharing in both their successes and difficulties.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Harvey Emanuel; children, Timothy Emanuel and wife, Mandi; Megan Current and husband, Jon; Elise Selby and husband, Derek; grandchildren, Jackson, Calvin, June, Holden, Nora and Wilder; and, sisters Susan Graham and husband, Ward; and, Norma Foster and husband, Charlie.
A private graveside service will be held by the family, while a memorial service will be held at Calvary Chapel Lynchburg on September 7th, at 11:00 a.m.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, is assisting the family.
